The Unicorns & Polka Dots Board of Directors includes some of the brightest minds in their fields who share one common goal: to rewrite the narrative about substance use disorder (SUD) by educating and empowering individuals in recovery to live their best lives.

Adriana Krywiak is a former physician and transformational guide and activator, known for helping individuals access clarity, vitality, and their highest potential. Her work centers on creating profound, lasting change by addressing the root causes—physical, emotional, and systemic—that quietly limit growth, health, and fulfillment.
With a foundation in psychology, philosophy, and medicine, Adriana brings a rare ability to see beneath surface challenges and identify what truly holds people back. Her own life journey—marked by early loss, resilience, and deep self-inquiry—shaped a rare intuitive and analytical skill set that allows her to guide others through complex transitions with precision and compassion.
For over a decade as a physician, and through advanced training in functional medicine and integrative healing disciplines, Dr. Krywiak has helped individuals move beyond survival into alignment, strength, and purpose. Clients and colleagues alike recognize her ability to create safety, reveal blind spots, and facilitate breakthroughs that feel both grounded and transformative.
Adriana’s mission is to help individuals not just improve their lives—but fully inhabit them.

Brian has been a Judge of the Rocky River Municipal Court (and surrounding jurisdictions) since 2008 and has seen numerous men and women struggling with addiction come through his court room. A fair yet compassionate jurist, Brian has numerous credentials and accomplishments to his name.
Brian was the 2023 Recipient of the Judge Larry A. Jones Drug Court Docket Dedication Award. He was also the 2024 recipient of the President’s Award for Judicial Excellence. Additionally, he was a former President of the Rocky River City Council, served on the board of trustees for Catholic Charities and for the Jesuit House. He was a Founding member of the West Shore Bar Association, the Rocky River High School Baseball Association, and the Founding Trustee of the Lisa Hagan Berry Memorial Scholarship (St. Joseph’s Academy). He is a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.
Brian is a graduate of St. Ignatius High School and the Cleveland-Marshall School of Law.

Paul Stefunek brings a career defined by growth, leadership, and strategic transition to the Board of Unicorns and Polka Dots. Currently a Director of Business Development at Houlihan Capital, Paul specializes in building the critical relationships that drive long-term success.
His professional background includes advising companies on complex transitions such as M&A and management buyouts. He previously founded two national executive search firms, taking one of those search firms to a publicly traded organization. He also served as the National Business Development Leader at Centric Consulting.
While his business acumen helps guide the non-profit’s strategy, his heart is in its mission. Paul has suffered the loss of a son, a tragedy that drives his commitment to helping other families find hope and healing. Paul lives in Avon with his wife and children and serves as a Board member for NxtGen Nexus.

Jeff is the Founder of Leonard Terzola Law. Prior to its founding, Jeff served as General Counsel for First Communications, Inc., a publicly traded diversified telecommunications company. Prior to joining First Comm, he was a partner at Roetzel & Andress Co. LPA where he was the head of the Firm’s Business Services Group. He has also served as Chief Financial Officer / General Counsel / Director of Strategic Growth for Feature Foods, Inc. (dba Main Street Gourmet), a middle market privately held manufacturer of frozen bakery products. Prior to holding that position, Jeff was a partner with Brouse & McDowell where he was chair of that firm’s tax practice group.
Jeff has received an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been named one of Ohio’s “Super Lawyers” in M&A and one of the Best Lawyers in America for Tax Law. Jeff received his undergraduate degree, cum laude, in accounting from Miami University and his law degree from The Ohio State University College of Law. Jeff began his legal career at Baker & Hostetler and has also practiced as a Certified Public Accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co.
He is married to Debbie who recently retired as a teacher from Akron Public Schools after teaching at-risk kids for 32 years. He and Debbie have three children, Kaleigh, Elisa, and Molly. They live in Fairlawn.

Erin Helms is a passionate, tireless advocate for individuals in recovery. As executive director of The Woodrow Project & Briermost Foundation, she works to provide safe, sober recovery housing and workforce agriculture training for women, as well as a path to a purposeful life. The Woodrow Project manages Project SOAR, which provides peer support for eight police departments, eight Cleveland Clinic Emergency Departments, and the Endocarditis Unit at the Cleveland Clinic’s main campus.
Erin earned her undergraduate degree at The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in Addiction Counseling at Hazelden-Betty Ford Graduate School of Addiction Studies. She has worked as a primary addiction counselor in both residential and outpatient settings. She is a board member for Ohio Recovery Housing; Secretary of The National Alliance Recovery; co-chair of the NARR Advocacy Committee; and Cuyahoga County Opiate Task Force member.
