Unicorns & Polka Dots is an ally of those in recovery from substance use disorder (SUD). Oftentimes, those in recovery feel overwhelmed in trying to get back on their feet and need support in strengthening their self-esteem and self-confidence. They need to redefine their purpose as they seek to lead a life of productivity.
In this spirit, Unicorns & Polka Dots will focus on identifying and locating the very best life skill resources. We will then work directly with the recovery housing networks and peer support groups to provide access to whichever life skill resources are most needed for their clients. Through the execution of these life skills, those in recovery stand a much higher probability of maintaining sobriety while strengthening their self-confidence and self-esteem. It's about finding purpose. We want those in recovery to learn how to THRIVE vs. JUST SURVIVE.
Some of these life skills include (but not limited to) furthering education, self-care and physical fitness, setting goals, finding a hobby, developing healthy credit and financial acumen, job search and career help, goal setting, finding mentors and life coaches, establishing healthy relationships, locating housing and potential roommates and much more. We envision this continuous recovery concept called the “Recovery College” as a dynamic and ever-evolving support network that changes and saves lives.
Unicorns & Polka Dots does not have all the answers, but our passion to make a difference is profound. We are a work in progress and will evolve over time to be a best-in-class resource to those individuals suffering from substance use disorder.
Founded by Joe Brady and his wife, Karen, after their two daughters battled with SUD and they later lost their youngest daughter after she phased out of rehab—but tragically before she could enter a recovery home.
Our approach will be aligned to ensure that each person's specific needs are met at every stage of their recovery journey.
Without reinventing the wheel, we align the quality recovery resources already available—and then supplement them with other tools and professional connections that together create a more comprehensive recovery program and a long-term solution.
A HOLISTIC APPROACH that meets each person's specific needs at every stage of their recovery journey.
Aggregating the wonderful resources already available—and identifying additional resources where help is still needed—we envision a program that connects those in recovery to the resources that promote the development of life skills to ensure a productive and thriving lifestyle.
We envision our Recovery College program to include access to essential resources such as (but not limited to):
